Physiotherapy that treats the root cause — not just the pain.

Physiotherapy that treats the root cause — not just the pain.

Our registered physiotherapists build personalized treatment plans that get you moving again, stronger than before. Whether you’re recovering from surgery, a sports injury, or years of chronic pain — we find what’s actually driving it and fix it.

What Is Physiotherapy?

More than just exercises.

Physiotherapy is a regulated health profession focused on assessing, diagnosing, and treating conditions that affect how you move.

A registered physiotherapist (PT) uses hands-on techniques, therapeutic exercise, education, and advanced modalities to restore your strength, flexibility, and function — effective not just for serious injuries, but chronic pain, post-surgical recovery, and performance optimization too.

Why it works.

Unlike pain medication, which manages symptoms, physiotherapy addresses the underlying cause — muscle imbalances, movement dysfunctions, joint restrictions, and nerve irritations driving your pain. The goal isn’t just to get you pain-free in our clinic; it’s to give you the strength, knowledge, and tools to stay that way outside of it.

How It Works

Three phases. One complete recovery.

Every physiotherapy journey at AristoClinic follows a structured, evidence-based progression — designed to get you out of pain quickly, then build lasting strength so you don’t end up back where you started.

01

Pain Relief

The first priority is reducing your pain and inflammation. Your physiotherapist uses hands-on therapy, modalities like ultrasound or IMS, and gentle movement to calm the area and restore basic function. You should feel better within the first few sessions.

02

Strengthening

Once pain is controlled, we address the root cause — the muscle weakness, imbalances, or movement dysfunctions that created the problem. Your customized exercise program rebuilds strength, stability, and endurance where your body needs it most.

03

Functional Integration

The final phase connects your recovery to real life. Whether you want to return to sport, get back to work comfortably, or just play with your kids without wincing — we make sure your body is ready, with the tools to stay healthy long after you leave us.

Do I need a doctor’s referral to see a physiotherapist?

No. In Ontario, physiotherapists are primary healthcare providers, meaning you can book an appointment directly without a doctor's referral. However, some private insurance providers may require a referral to process your claim, so it’s always a good idea to check your specific policy.

What should I expect during my first visit?

Your initial assessment is all about understanding your story. Your therapist will discuss your medical history, perform a physical evaluation of your movement and strength, and provide you with a clinical diagnosis. Most importantly, you’ll leave your first session with a clear treatment plan and your first round of hands-on treatment or exercises.

What should I wear to my appointment?

We recommend wearing comfortable, loose-fitting athletic clothing that allows you to move freely. If we are treating a specific area (like a knee or shoulder), please wear clothing that allows the therapist to easily access that area (e.g., shorts for a knee injury or a tank top for a shoulder issue).

How many sessions will I need?

Every body is different. Some acute injuries may resolve in 3–5 sessions, while chronic conditions or post-surgical rehab may require a longer-term plan. After your first assessment at our North York clinic, your therapist will provide an honest timeline based on your specific goals and the severity of your condition.

Is physiotherapy covered by insurance?

Yes, most Extended Health Care (EHC) plans cover physiotherapy. We also accept claims for Motor Vehicle Accidents (MVA) and Workplace Injuries (WSIB). We recommend contacting your insurance provider to confirm your coverage details and see if we can offer direct billing for your plan.

Does physiotherapy hurt?

The goal of physiotherapy is to relieve pain, not cause it. While some manual therapy techniques or new exercises might cause mild "good soreness"—similar to what you feel after a workout—our therapists communicate with you constantly to ensure you stay within a comfortable and safe range.

How long is each session?

Typically, an initial assessment lasts about 60 minutes. Subsequent follow-up appointments are usually 30 to 60 minutes of dedicated, one-on-one time with your physiotherapist.

Do you offer direct billing?

Yes! We aim to make quality care in Don Mills as accessible as possible. We offer direct billing to the majority of extended health care providers. By billing your insurance company directly, we minimize your out-of-pocket expenses and save you the hassle of submitting claims yourself.

Can physiotherapy be done virtually?

Yes! With our virtual rehab sessions, you can connect with your physiotherapist from home. You’ll receive guided exercises, real-time feedback, and professional support without having to travel.
