What Is Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy?
A conversation most people are afraid to start.
How It Works
Three pillars of pelvic health.
Every pelvic floor physiotherapy session at AristoClinic is built around three connected goals — because lasting relief means addressing strength, coordination, and confidence together.
01
Muscle Assessment & Retraining
A detailed internal and external assessment identifies whether your pelvic floor muscles are weak, overly tight, or poorly coordinated — then builds a targeted retraining program specific to what your body actually needs.
02
Symptom Resolution
Whether it’s incontinence, pelvic pain, or prolapse symptoms, treatment is focused on measurable functional improvement — not just temporary relief.
03
Long-Term Confidence
You leave with a clear home program and the knowledge to manage your pelvic health independently — through pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and beyond.

Who We Help
Every stage. Every body. No judgment.
Pelvic floor physiotherapy at AristoClinic serves patients across every life stage — from first pregnancy to menopause and beyond. Here are the patient profiles we see most often.
The Prenatal Patient
Preparing the pelvic floor for childbirth and managing pregnancy-related pelvic and lower back discomfort with safe, evidence-based techniques.
The Postpartum Patient
Recovering strength and function after vaginal or C-section delivery — including diastasis recti, perineal healing, and return-to-exercise guidance.
The Patient Managing Incontinence
Leakage with coughing, laughing, exercise, or urgency is common but not something you have to accept. Targeted retraining produces real, measurable improvement.
The Patient with Pelvic Pain
Chronic pelvic pain, painful intercourse, and related conditions are treated with a gentle, thorough approach in a private and respectful setting.
The Menopausal Patient
Hormonal changes affect pelvic floor strength and bladder control. We help you manage these changes with a personalized, long-term strategy.
The Postnatal Athlete
Returning to running, lifting, or high-impact activity after childbirth requires more than time — it requires a cleared, retrained pelvic floor and core.

Pelvic Floor Questions, Answered
Do I need a doctor’s referral for Pelvic Floor Physio?
No. In Ontario, you can book an appointment with our pelvic health physiotherapist directly. However, we recommend checking with your insurance provider, as some extended health plans require a physician’s note to process your reimbursement.
Is it covered by insurance?
Yes! Pelvic floor physiotherapy is performed by a Licensed Physiotherapist, meaning it is covered under the "Physiotherapy" portion of most Extended Health Care (EHC) plans. We provide detailed receipts for easy claim submission or direct billing where possible.
What should I bring to my appointment?
Please wear or bring comfortable, loose-fitting clothing (like leggings or gym shorts). If you have any relevant medical records or surgical notes, feel free to bring those along. Most importantly, bring any questions you have—we are here to provide clarity.
Can I come in if I am on my period?
Yes, absolutely. Being on your period does not prevent us from performing an assessment or treatment. However, if you personally feel more comfortable waiting until your cycle is over, we are happy to reschedule your appointment.
Is an internal exam mandatory?
No. While an internal exam provides the most accurate data, we can still begin treatment using external techniques, education, and breathing exercises. Your comfort and consent govern every step of the process; we move at your pace.
What happens during the first visit?
Your initial 60-minute session is a deep dive into your history and symptoms. We will discuss your goals, assess your posture and breathing, and—if you are comfortable—perform an internal exam. Treatment always begins on day one, and you will leave with a clear understanding of your condition and a starting plan for recovery.
